Jeans (eng. Jeans) - trousers made of dense cotton fabric. Is there in our volatile world clothes that will never go out of fashion, equally suitable for a picnic and a restaurant visit, durable and comfortable, that have not given up their positions, despite the prohibitions and anti-propaganda of the media? Many people answer this question without hesitation - yes, there is: jeans.

Indeed, since the 18th century, it is denim clothing that is the most popular and demanded. At the beginning of its existence, jeans were sewn for gold diggers, and, in accordance with the requests of customers, were made of durable canvas (used to create tents and awnings, with which the world famous Levi Strauss made his living in those days) and were supplemented with rivets on the pockets (often breakthrough under the weight of gold).

The rivets were also on the fly (their purpose is not entirely clear - after all, the trousers were fastened on the back of the prospector). Later, the extra rivets from the pockets and the fly were removed, the fastener migrated to its usual place, the buttons were replaced with a zipper - and the jeans began their triumphant march around the world (mainly thanks to hippies, rockers, bikers and Hollywood films, in which cowboys, sheriffs and others " tough guys "sported jeans).

So what are jeans - clothes of freedom-loving youth or stylish, self-confident people? How to choose a truly branded item? What is the best pair of jeans? We will try to answer all these questions, simultaneously debunking the most famous myths about denim clothing.

Jeans are versatile clothing. This is true, but all universality has its limits. Therefore, you should not combine jeans with strict boots (the exception is fashionable round-nosed ones), a tie, a denim shirt. And in no case should the arrows be ironed on jeans (so necessary on other trousers), if they are not provided by the model and are not smoothed in a factory way.

Short denim shorts, like a real cowboy, will adorn any man. Unfortunately, this is not the case. If you really want to look like a real man, and not resemble an intelligent romantic geologist on a camping trip, leave short denim shorts to the singer Sabrina, and for yourself make stylish knee-length shorts from high-quality expensive jeans.

Jeans are clothes for walks and trips to nature. No, trousers made of coarse fabric with correctly selected accessories can be worn by a woman both to a party and to a restaurant. It is best to combine jeans with a mid-thigh length tunic, top or blouse made of chiffon and satin. A short jacket with cropped jeans, a long jacket with a tapered waist, combined with thin belts and long jeans, also looks good.

Jeans don't go well with high heels. This is not entirely true when it comes to sophisticated jeans that are correctly selected in length (the heels must be closed, otherwise you will look ridiculous in overly short trousers) and complemented by appropriate accessories (a small handbag with sequins or beads, a few gold bracelets or thick necklaces).

"Denim" is the name of the jeans company. Misconception. Denim is the historical name for the fabric from which traditional jeans are made. It is believed that it comes from the French words "serge de Nim", meaning "twill from Nimes" (Nimes - a city in the south of France). Structurally, denim is a twill weave fabric (warp threads are intertwined with weft threads with one, two, three threads missing), which is easy to identify from the seamy side along the diagonals that appear on the fabric. In order to achieve a certain color effect, only the warp thread is dyed in denim, and the dyeing is superficial (therefore, fashionable "scuffs" appear during operation or mechanical influences).

In Russia, the production of jeans was not mastered for ideological reasons. This is not entirely true. Attempts were made to create our own jeans, but it turned out that this is a rather complex production, requiring the presence of a certain type of fabric and dyes that specialists in Russia could not reproduce (the only achievement in this area is the fabric of a violet-ink color, of lower density and not so resistant to abrasion). In addition, for the production of such fabric, wide looms were needed, for sewing products - heavy sewing equipment, finishing equipment, etc. Therefore, attempts to independently create a high-quality analogue of jeans have failed.

Branded jeans can only be blue and are made only from denim. Indeed, the classic color of jeans is blue or light blue, but in our time the color range of fabrics has expanded. Many well-known firms produce black, purple, pink, orange jeans, etc., using not only classic denim, but also elastic stretch, velvet, corduroy, and leather to create models.

American jeans are out of competition. It is not so - European firms Big Star, Diesel, Mustang, Rifle and Turkish firms Dallas, Cross, Motor actively compete with American manufacturers.

The most expensive jeans are couture. Indeed, two of the three most expensive jeans in the world are from the haute couture range. But the third pair, a 120-year-old rarity, acquired by Levi Strauss and Co for $ 46,500, is not at all distinguished by its super-beauty and elegance of decoration.

Choosing jeans is not easy - there is a high risk of acquiring a fake. Indeed, there are a lot of crafts. But even a simple man in the street, armed with certain knowledge, is able to distinguish the product of the company "Levis", "Wrangler" and "Lee" from a Turkish or Chinese counterfeit. So, when buying jeans, your attention should be paid to the following features:
- Fittings (buttons, rivets, "zippers") must be metal (in no case plastic!), The name of the company and the designation YKK, for example, L.S. - S.F (Levi Strauss and Co - San Francisco), other inscriptions are not allowed. Almost all branded jeans use zippers with two fasteners (the exception is the classic Levis 501 jeans, fastened with five buttons).
- Seams - without breaks and puffs, distortions, crooked lines. It is best if the rivets are in the crosshairs of the seams (but even branded models have slight deviations). Turning the jeans inside out reveals a red thread running along the hem of the side seam and the inner seams in yellow silk.
