Daylighting in English means daylight. We will deal with debasing the myths about deilating.

Daylighting is very expensive. It is believed that introducing daylighting elements into the building structure significantly increases the cost of construction. In fact, construction costs do not increase with an integrated design approach. This is done by considering the effects of lighting on air conditioning systems. The fact is that a lot of heat is generated during electric lighting, whereas this does not happen with natural light. Less air heating during daylighting allows for more compact air cooling systems. Thus, the saved funds are used for the implementation of daylighting.

Daylighting is very difficult. In fact, you don't have to invent anything. There is a dedicated Daylighting Collaborative program that allows you to design daylighting that will work successfully in most commercial, educational and social institutions. It remains only to copy the approved projects. The technology available is based on years of operation and deilating design. As a result, significant investment in design is not required, labor costs and time are saved.

Daylighting brings summer heat into the house. For daylighting, the light-heat ratio is much better than for electric fixtures. Properly designed daylighting delivers 99% sunlight, delivering 50 foot candles. This is quite enough for solving almost any problem.

Daylighting produces a dazzling effect. This happens when too much light enters the room, by the way, this happens in most office spaces with traditional lighting. Daylighting is also good, which allows you to think over the location of windows, the presence of shading devices and devices, use glass with a low transmittance, which significantly reduces the brightness of sunlight and blocks direct rays.

It will be much more beneficial to make investments in improving heating, lighting, ventilation and air conditioning systems. If you want to save money, then it is better to reduce the need for electric lighting and cooling, which allows you to do cool daylighting. The use of natural light results in less electricity required, leaving only night lighting. This results in a decrease in heating, a decrease in the amount of heat that must be removed by air conditioning, which will also entail a decrease in energy consumption. Naturally, something will be spent on cooling and lighting, but these tasks can and should be solved using the most efficient equipment. Efficiency will be to consume the least amount of energy.

In buildings using daylighting the glass must be kept clean at all times. In fact, completely clean windows let in too much light, which is inappropriate for effective lighting. The sun's rays provide illumination of about 7-10 thousand foot candles, and only 50 foot candles are enough for employees' workplaces. A large amount of light produces a dazzling effect as well as a cave effect in which the back wall will be darker than the rest. To neutralize the resulting contrast, people usually curtain and turn on the light. So with a well-planned daylighting, even with a curtain, you can get by with natural light without resorting to the help of an upper artificial one.

Daylighting and skylighting are essentially the same thing. The use of roof or dormer windows (which is skylighting) can really be a good solution in cases where the premises are already very isolated. But, as practice has shown, in most schools and offices daylighting can provide even more light than necessary. All you need to do is place the windows correctly and choose their size. Roof windows are not always needed, they are used in cases where the length of the glazing is more than 8 meters.

Daylighting can only be used on sunny days. Let's turn to the language of numbers. A cloudy sky provides illumination of 5-6 thousand foot candles, which is 100 times more than necessary. And for northern latitudes, it is a cloudy sky that is to some extent the best source of illumination, since a uniform and diffused light is formed. This, incidentally, is known to photographers. In southern countries, however, the amount of natural light is a catalyst for the development of daylighting, but this should not be overused, but should be carefully managed.

Daylight can only enter rooms in one correct way. Daylighting has several methods that are selected taking into account the location of the building, its orientation relative to the terrain, the number of floors, the level of computerization, and so on. Daylighting takes a different approach in relation to offices, schools, warehouses or government offices.

Daylighting buildings are made of one glass. If the building is made entirely of glass, then there will be no good daylighting. The fact is that such structures overheat a lot and generate too bright light. In efficient daylighting buildings, windows occupy only 25-40% of the wall area, which is roughly comparable to conventional buildings. A feature of daylighting is the correct placement of windows and the design and technical features of their work. These include the transmittance of visible light, the degree of solar heating. This is not directly related to the large amount of glass in the building.
