The honor to name the ten most terrible animals in the world fell to ecologists. The presence of a person on this list should not surprise anyone, because we do the greatest harm to our nature.

Only people kill just for fun or just for no reason. Horror films have been made about some of these living creatures, and some (and thank God!) Can be seen only in rare photographs and in encyclopedic articles.

Sabretooth. Some peoples call this monster "man-eating fish" and there is a reason - it looks rather menacing. The habitat of the monster is the depths of the ocean. The saber itself is protected from enemies by a rough skin covered with armor, and for attack the fish has four straight and long teeth, similar to nails. At the same time, the teeth are so long that when the jaws are closed with the saber-toothed, the lower pair of jaws must be placed in a special sheath on both sides of the fish brain. Thus, nature took care of its creation so that it would not be cut. Although the appearance is quite frightening, the monster is small in length - only 15 centimeters. A large head is located on a short body. At a depth of 5 kilometers, it is rather difficult for a saber toothed to find prey, but if it has already come into the sight of a hunter, then the monster quickly pierces it with its teeth, again and again. And another curious fact about these fish - young individuals are so different from adults that scientists have considered them to be different species for almost 50 years!

"Fish-witch", or mixina. This fish is considered one of the most unusual in the world. Today, there are not many jawless fish species and myxin - one of them. The "witch fish" lives in the depths, feeding on small live fish, dead and dying. Mixina is considered a nocturnal animal. They spend the day in the silt, leaving only part of their head outside. At night, the predator goes hunting. Mixina slowly swims against the current, gaping its tentacles and opening its nostril, looking for the necessary vibrations. When attacking a weakened victim, myxina gnaws a hole in it, tearing off the skin and meat with the help of its teeth. At the same time, the "witch" can tie her body into a knot, clinging to the prey for support. Once inside its victim through the eaten hole or gills, the myxine begins to eat the insides - first the liver, and then the muscles. In the end, only the skeleton and skin remain of the large fish attacked by the myxine. There have even been recorded cases of myxin attacks on sharks. The witch fish is even known for the fact that it can moderate its appetite - for a long time remaining alive without food. This monster also gained a reputation as the slimmest creature on the planet. The pores on the torso secrete a huge amount of viscous mucus, which scares off predators and helps the mixina itself as a lubricant for its deadly moves. In addition, the "witch fish" is the only fish that can sneeze. It is through this that the mucus comes out of the single nostril. Mixins live in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea in large populations, up to 15 thousand individuals. Usually their size does not exceed 40 centimeters, although a record length of 79 centimeters was recorded near America. Mixin color ranges from pink to reddish gray. Surprisingly, these fish have a low mortality rate, therefore females lay eggs in small quantities. Fry looks like adults, but initially have both male and female genitals. The final choice of gender occurs with growing up, depending on the needs of the population.

Aye-aye. This primate lives in Madagascar and is somewhat reminiscent of the house elf Dobby from "Potteriana". Nature has awarded the animal with teeth similar to rodents and a long middle finger, which it can get its food, like a woodpecker with its beak. Aye-aye is the largest of the nocturnal primates, having chosen forest canopy for its habitat, its length reaches 1 meter. The method of obtaining food by this primate is rather unusual: it knocks on a tree, and to search for larvae in the necessary place, the animal gnaws a hole, reaching the prey insect with a long middle finger. Aye-aye has a fluffy tail, like a squirrel, while the muzzle has a resemblance to rodents, which is facilitated by black beady eyes. The primate has large incisors that grow throughout its life. Aye-aye is an omnivore whose diet also includes nuts, fruits, mushrooms, seeds and nectar. The animal knows how to pluck fruits from trees on the go. At one time, scientists disappointingly stated that the aye-aye had already become extinct, but in 1961 the animals were again found in Madagascar. Nevertheless, even today, these primates are under the threat of extinction. This is also the fault of the deforestation, their native environment, and the prejudices of local residents. The natives believe that aye-aye is a symbol of death, and the one who met him is in danger of early death. Today, there are only a few hundred individuals left on the planet, which they are trying to save, creating specially for them reserves on the territory of Madagascar.

Giant squid. These animals can reach truly grandiose sizes. Although science notes a maximum length of 13 meters, according to eyewitnesses, squids can be 20 meters long. These animals can float to the surface due to the presence of ammonium chloride solution in the body. The usual food for squid is deep-sea fish and their own smaller relatives. For hunting, monsters use the serrated suction cups of their two longest limbs. Legends have long been circulating among sailors about giant squids that are capable of embracing and sinking any ship, while the Norse legends about the sea monster, the "kraken", became the prototype of the myth.

Some peoples also call the idiakant the black dragon fish. This long and extremely flexible fish lives at a depth of about 2 kilometers. The creature is a striking example of sexual dimorphism. Females reach a length of about 40 centimeters, they have small eyes and long teeth necessary for hunting. At the same time, the threatening fangs do not allow the mouth to close. The menacing look is complemented by the glow of the teeth. A special chin antennae, which is 2-3 times longer than the head, is responsible for the coordination of movements. Males look very different. Their length does not exceed 6 centimeters, they are devoid of both teeth and antennae, and their intestines simply do not function. Nature decided that there is no need for males to eat - they passively hover in the water column, attracting females with the light of their lights. The larval development of idiants is also curious. In fry, the eyes hang down on long stalks, which will shrink as they mature. As a result, the organs of vision will be located in the eye sockets. Females are known for their ability to capture large prey. The fact is that the skull of these fish can be reclined up and back thanks to the flexible vertebra and the work of the muscles. In this case, the lower jaw of the fish not only goes down, but also sharply moves forward. In such cases, in order to accommodate abundant prey, the heart, gills and aorta move away from the mouth into the body.

Vampire. This creature is endowed with mystical properties, perhaps more than others. Numerous legends and myths are dedicated to them, which tell about blood-sucking demons. In fact, vampire bats exist, and are not the product of exclusively legends. There are three types of such animals in Central and South America. The bats themselves have a wing coverage of 20 centimeters, and their body is small - the size of an adult's finger. These "terrible" mammals would hardly be so interested in people, if not the fact that their main diet is blood. True, people have nothing to fear, the main objects for hunting are cattle, large birds, horses and pigs. Bats' incisors are as sharp as incisors. With their help, vampires make small cuts in the skin of a sleeping animal. At the same time, blood constantly flows from the wound, without curdling, since this is facilitated by substances contained in the saliva of mice. Also, saliva contributes to numbness of the skin, as a result, the animal does not wake up, since it simply does not feel the bite. A vampire, without regularly receiving the necessary portion of blood, quickly loses strength and can die of hunger in 2-3 days. These bats seek out their prey with help, smells, sounds, and echolocation. Few people know that vampires can not only fly, but also run quite fast and dexterously. They cover up to 2.2 meters per second.

Anaconda. This snake has a pretty scary reputation. So, in Tamil the name of anaconda sounds like "anaikolra", which literally means "elephant killer". When the first Spanish settlers saw this snake, they christened it "matatoro", or "bull killer". Anaconda is the heaviest in the world, weighing 250 kilograms. The snake's eyes and nostrils are located at the top of its head. This structure of the anaconda allows it to breathe and observe potential victims, while being almost completely located in the water. The gigantic strength of anacondas is known, which, despite their slowness, can defeat rather large animals, including small deer and crocodiles. To strangle their victim, anacondas twine around her body and begin to strangle.

Wolf. For most of us, gray predators are not as exotic as some of the ones mentioned above. The length of wolves from the nose to the tip of the tail is usually from 1.3 to 2 meters, while the tail itself is a quarter of the entire length. The wolf is built so that it can easily endure the longest travels and transitions. He has a narrow chest, strong legs and back that prevent fatigue from building up quickly. Wolves can move at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour over a fairly long distance. During their pursuit of game, predators can accelerate up to 65 kilometers per hour. The main food for wolves is deer, elk, yaks and other ungulates. There are cases when a pack of wolves killed a bison weighing more than a ton. Animals are terrifying with their strong jaws with sharp fangs and carnivorous teeth, which are specially created by nature for tearing meat and chewing it. The predator's jaws are so strong that the elk's thigh can be snipped in 6-8 bites.

Tasmanian devil. No other animals have such a proportion of jaws to body length, and their strength. The bite force of an animal is the highest among mammals, even surpassing a lion in this indicator. A mammal from the family of marsupials today lives only on the island of Tasmania, although it once lived on the mainland of Australia. It is the largest of the marsupial predators. The body length ranges from 50 to 80 centimeters, and the weight is up to 12 kilograms. Another name for the animal is "marsupial devil". Frightening glory to the animal was given by its capabilities - with its huge jaws, it can easily bite into the largest bones. The Tasmanian devil prefers to dine in the midst of his own kind - up to 12 animals gather at a public event at once. During the feast, active communication also takes place. Scientists were even able to identify 11 different poses and 8 sounds with which these scary animals communicate. An outsider hears ominous screams. Tasmanian is quite gluttonous, eating food weighing about 15% of its mass per day. The main diet consists of small animals and birds, insects, snakes and even tubers and roots. It is known that the most voracious individuals can attack gullible tourists, who naively mistake dangerous predators for cute puppies.

Person. Human activity is the most terrible for all living things around. We cut down forests and cultivate land, build dams, our factories pollute the atmosphere with greenhouse gases and our water with waste. Basically, we only consume, without thinking about whether nature will have time to restore the harm caused to it. Over time, people turn into environmental debtors, spending much more resources than we are entitled to. Today 70% of the world's fish stocks are used by mankind, which casts doubt on the possibility of its natural restoration. 7 million tons of garbage are released into the seas and oceans every year. Industry leaders, including Russia, generate 400 million tons of toxic waste annually. Today people have already destroyed 65% of virgin forests, this process continues - every second 1.5 hectares of forest disappears under our influence. Is it any wonder that it is a person who is the most terrible creature for our blue and green planet?
